Premier League Team of the Week Gameweek 11

The Premier League will now enter a brief hiatus after the end of gameweek 11, as players prepare for the upcoming international break. Who made it into our team of the week before they depart their respective clubs?

We’ve included players from clubs such as Aston Villa, Sunderland and Manchester City in this list – have a go at guessing who they are before we begin.

GK: Emi Martinez

Emi Martinez has had a season of mixed fortunes, but the 2022 World Cup winner was back to his best against Bournemouth.

He helped Villa keep a clean sheet and saved a penalty along the way as they picked up an emphatic 4-0 win.

RB: Matheus Nunes

Another player who has suffered under the critics’ limelight, Matheus Nunes silenced them all against Liverpool.

He put in a phenomenal cross for Erling Haaland to head in and made Florian Wirtz practically anonymous with his solid defending.

CB: Dan Ballard

Sunderland’s game against Arsenal was a true Premier League classic which ended tied 2-2.

The Black Cats fought to the end, with Dan Ballard at the heart of their defence – whenever they needed someone to put in an heroic tackle or block, he was invariably there for it.

CB: Michael Keane

What an odd career Michael Keane has had. From a future England defender at Burnley to a polarising figure at Everton with a strangely good goalscoring record, he found the back of the net again against Fulham.

The Toffees picked up a vital 2-0 win over the Cottagers to significantly boost their survival hopes.

LB: Lucas Digne

Not only did Lucas Digne help keep a clean sheet again Bournemouth, he also made an attacking contribution as he assisted Villa’s third goal of the afternoon.

Could he make a late case to be included in France’s World Cup squad next year?

DM: Idrissa Gueye

Idrissa Gueye is one of the Premier League’s most overlooked players he rarely puts a foot wrong.

He provided the heartbeat for Everton’s excellent display against Fulham, breaking up play and finding teammates to keep the Cottagers under pressure.
