NFL: Top 10 running backs in Week 10

We’re past the trade deadline and officially more than halfway through the 2025 NFL season! This week brings us some newcomers, some big drops, and some high-risers. There’s even a chance we have a shake-up at the top spot! These rankings are meant to be a snapshot in time, so we’re looking at the first nine weeks of performance as our main criteria (along with some judgment calls that factor in injuries and bye weeks). Let’s dig into the Week 10 edition of NFL Running Back Power Rankings! Week 10 stats will be included next weeks article:

10. Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles (Previous Ranking: 10)

This is a strange spot in that I’m not sure there’s anyone who truly deserves it. I contemplated guys like Breece Hall, J.K. Dobbins, and Kyren Williams, but I’m not going to punish Saquon Barkley for having a bye week. He’s nursing a groin injury, so we’ll see if he can suit up against the Packers this week. But for now, we’ll keep Barkley here coming off a 150-yard performance.

9. Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions (Previous Ranking: 4)

Jahmyr Gibbs may have been a bit high last week, so I’ll take the blame on that one. He’s still had a great season with 551 rushing yards and 197 receiving yards to go along with seven total touchdowns, but he only had 28 total yards last week, so a pretty sizable drop seems valid this week.

8. Javonte Williams, Dallas Cowboys (Previous Ranking: 8)

Javonte Williams has fallen off a bit as of late, but he’s still fifth in the NFL in rushing yards and has nine total touchdowns on the year. While his 93 receiving yards hold him back from being higher on this list, eighth in the entire NFL is a lot higher than anyone would’ve picked him to be back when the season started.

7. Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers (Previous Ranking: 7)

Josh Jacobs is a tough player to rank as he’s yet to put up a 100-yard rushing game, but he has 738 all-purpose yards and 10 total touchdowns. He’s now scored in five straight games and has eight touchdowns in that timespan. We’ll keep him here at seven, where he was last week.

6. Rico Dowdle, Carolina Panthers (Previous Ranking: N/A)

This may be too high for Rico Dowdle, but the dude has been an absolute machine since Week 5. He hasn’t rushed for less than 54 yards in a game since then, and he has three games in his last five with more than 130 rushing yards. He’s now third in the entire NFL in rushing yards – which is absolutely wild because he only carried the ball 28 times TOTAL through the first four weeks of the season.

5. De’Vone Achane, Miami Dolphins (Previous Ranking: 6)

While the Dolphins have had an awful 2025 season, De’Vone Achane is having a career year and now has 606 rushing yards to go with 274 receiving yards. He’s also scored seven total touchdowns and has been one of two lone bright spots in Miami’s offense alongside Jaylen Waddle.

4. Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons (Previous Ranking: 3)

Bijan Robinson has been pretty feast-or-famine this season as he has just two games with 100-plus rushing yards, but he’s also put up great season-long numbers. He’s just one of three backs with more than 1,000 all-purpose yards and is second among all running backs in receiving yards.

3. James Cook, Buffalo Bills (Previous Ranking: 5)

James Cook has had monster back-to-back weeks coming off the Bills’ bye, and is now second in the NFL in rushing yards with 867 to go along with seven rushing touchdowns. He’s probably capped at third on our list unless he starts racking up receiving yards in bunches (he only has 100 on the year), but third is pretty darn good!

2. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers (Previous Ranking: 2)

There’s a very valid argument that Christian McCaffrey should be first on this list, but I’m going to defer to the rushing yards since we’re talking about running backs. However, McCaffrey is inarguably the best all-around back in the league as he’s ninth in rushing yards and seventh in receiving yards (and that includes receivers and tight ends). He’s now tied for second in the league in receptions and is third in targets. That’s just insane for a running back.

1. Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts (Previous Ranking: 1)

I was THIS close to moving Jonathan Taylor down after a lackluster Week 9, but we’ll keep him here for at least one more week as he’s still the NFL rushing leader (and touchdown leader). While Christian McCaffrey (and James Cook) are coming on strong, Taylor’s half-season of dominance has bought him a little bit of leeway as he now has 895 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.
