Another week, another Bruno Guimaraes statement after another awful away performance from Newcastle United.
Despite taking a first-half lead via Harvey Barnes, Newcastle collapsed in the second half both collectively and individually.
We didn’t have a single shot on target at one end, and saw Nick Pope, Dan Burn and Sven Botman all make errors for each of Brentford’s goals in a 3-1 defeat at the Gtech.
Bruno has taken to social media with a brutally honest statement, admitting the team is going through ‘the toughest moment’ in his four years at the club, sitting 14th in the table and two points from the relegation zone after five defeats in our opening 11 games.
He’s called for unity and vows to come back from the break stronger, urging the team to ‘find the chemistry that has guided us all this time until now.’
In a post shared on his personal Instagram page after Sunday’s defeat. Bruno said:
> _‘In almost four years at the club, we are going through perhaps one of the toughest moment. Just like in life, we can’t always be at the top._
>
> _‘But…in times like this we need to stick together and never let go of each others’ hands._
>
> _‘The first part of the season didn’t go as expected and after the break we need to find the chemistry that has guided us all this time until now. I can assure you we are just as sad as you, the fans.’_
Bruno is right. This very much feels like the toughest moment of the How era, with the coaching team and players in desperate need of a solution that sorts out this awful start to our Premier League season.
Our three wins from 11 have come against 20th, 19th and 15th in the table, our away form is a huge worry and things just haven’t been clicking in the final third, with our defensive resilience even coming into question in recent weeks after conceding eight goals in our last three on the road.
A big response is needed and a fix must be found soon; starting against Man City a week on Saturday.
