Ex-Steelers cornerback gets his revenge on former team with interception

Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Donte Jackson got some revenge on his former team Sunday by getting an interception against Aaron Rodgers.

The play came in the fourth quarter once the ball clanged off the hands of Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III and ended with Jackson getting a pick against his former team. It was the exclamation point on a game that saw the Steelers struggle to move the ball much at all offensively.

Jackson, who the Steelers traded for from the Carolina Panthers in 2024 for Diontae Johnson, started most of the year for the team before suffering a nagging back issue.

As a result, the Steelers let him walk in free agency, but he has played well for the Chargers. The injuries were likely the reason Jackson walked.

“I was able to put together a pretty good year,”Jackson said on the Kickin’ it with Kunkel podcast. “It just sucks that injuries got in the way of a lot of my performance. Dealing with a lot of injuries, dealing with a lot of things. Couldn’t stay upright. Even though I had good stats, couldn’t stay upright, couldn’t stay available. Even when I was available, I still was out there playing hurt. I wish it would’ve ended better. Feel like I shot myself in the foot.”

Now, Jackson can say he got some satisfaction by sticking it to his former team, and he walked away with a win on top of that.

The Steelers will look to get back to the drawing board after their worst game offensively so far this year.
