Chris Sutton says if Leeds United should sack Daniel Farke after Nottingham Forest defeat

The vultures are circling for Leeds United manager Daniel Farke after a fourth defeat in five Premier League games, and Chris Sutton has discussed whether the German should be sacked.

Sunday’s defeat could not have gone worse for Farke. Leeds took the lead through Lukas Nmecha, a summer signing and likely to be one that Farke pushed for, given his knowledge of German football.

But from then on in, everything went downhill. An equaliser within two minutes for Forest and then choosing not to be reactive with his substitutes, which allowed Sean Dyche to change the game.

Farke has also come in for criticism for leaving Willy Gnonto at home, while the Leeds manager failed to shoulder any blame in his post-match comments. Chris Sutton has been a big defender of Farke recently.

Chris Sutton explains why Leeds shouldn’t sack Daniel Farke

After the win over West Ham, Sutton took to X to applaud the work Farke has done. There is no doubt that Farke has never won Leeds fans over, and reports of replacing him in the summer were very harsh.

Following Sunday’s defeat to Forest, Sutton spoke to BBC Radio’s 606 that he would keep Farke because if Leeds are relegated, then there is no better manager out there to then get Leeds promoted again.

“No, I don’t agree [Farke needs to go]. I like a long-term strategy. If Daniel Farke isn’t responsible for the recruitment and Leeds aren’t performing at the level, difficult enough to come out of the Championship.”

If Leeds do sack Daniel Farke, who is there to replace him?

The 49ers are in danger of not only losing their biggest weapon, the Leeds fans. But also, The 49ers find themselves in the same position they were in with Jesse Marsch. Do you stick with Farke, or do you twist?

Well, making that decision can be influenced by the potential managers that Leeds would look to appoint. Out of work, in the Premier League sphere, include the likes of Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou.

Leeds really wanted Rodgers before hiring Farke and there is every chance the Northern Irishman would take the Leeds job. But the options are limited and that might just see The 49ers stick with Farke longer.
