With the international break now underway the stories start to arise that have been hiding away beneath the surface, whilst the focus has been very much on Premier League fixtures and West Ham’s recent upturn in form.
Liverpool’s continual poor recent form (excuse me for a wry smile) has given way to all sorts of ‘panic buying’ links suggesting the Reds will be heading out in January to bring further players to Anfield, even after their summer of spending an absolutely eye -watering £450 million!
One of those ‘reports’ appeared today from footballinsider247.com suggesting that Liverpool have again cast their eye over Jarrod Bowen as a long-term replacement for Mohammed Salah and a fix for their dreadful form:

‘Sources: West Ham respond to Liverpool’s Jarrod Bowen plan’
Is the headline of their their article today suggesting there is indeed a ‘Jarrod Bowen plan’ – of which I’d be highly sceptical. In any case the article makes it plain that:
“Jarrod Bowen is “content” at West Ham and won’t be leaving the club in the near future despite interest from Liverpool.”
Which of course West Ham fans know only too well. But there needs to be an important caveat, which is addressed later in their article:
Things might change in some way… If West Ham were to suffer relegation, then there might be a chance that Jarrod Bowen could move on. But every time there’s speculation about Bowen, it seems that he is content with life at West Ham.”
Jarrod Bowen – as every West Ham fan will hope, staying put despite Liverpool’s ambition. Just hope the Irons don’t end up in a relegation fight come May!
Between you and I, if West Ham were relegated I suspect Jarrod Bowen would be sold to keep the club solvent.. However, the thrust of the report seems to be –providing the Hammers avoid the drop – that Liverpool will have to look elsewhere.
And, to be honest, with the greatest respect to the authors, we probably didn’t need footballinsider247.com to tell us that. ‘Next’.
On a more serious note, Liverpool’s poor form will give rise to a degree of optimism that perhaps now is the time for West Ham to take them on at home: For the first time in years, I suspect, fans will be licking their lips at the prospect of taking on the Reds at the end of November, whilst they seem to be on a downward trajectory having lost five out of their last six Premier League games.
