The Bills have won the AFC East division in the previous five seasons, and haven't been knocked off the top spot since Tom Brady was on the Patriots. However, New England is excelling under second-year quarterback Drake Maye and is 8-2 this season.
Buffalo made a dominant 4-0 start to the year, but has since slumped to a 6-3 record. The Bills also lost to the Patriots in Week 5, but New England has yet to suffer defeat against divisional opponents.
For the first time since 2019, the Patriots are now the favorites to win the AFC East division. With Buffalo in unfamiliar territory, during a year that a Super Bowl push was planned, Portnoy couldn't help but gloat.

Portnoy joined Patriots owner Robert Kraft in the executive suite at Raymond James Stadium as he watched New England beat Tampa Bay 28-23. The Barstool founder posted a video to social media moments after the game.
"What happened today? Patriots blowout the Bucs," Portnoy said. "First place in the division, by the way, scoreboard, Buffalo is down. It's back to the good ol' days, see you in Santa Clara!"
Portnoy suggested that the Patriots were the most likely Super Bowl team from the AFC East, while claiming that Buffalo's divisional reign was over. He later apologized for his boastful video, though it followed a similar tone.

"I want to apologize to @BuffaloBills fans and #BillsMafia," Portnoy wrote on X. "I really do like you guys. It sucks that your Super Bowl window closed and we are going to get our 7th before your 1st. It doesn’t seem fair. I shouldn’t have piled on. I’m sorry and I promise to be better."

For Buffalo, the challenging games continue to come, as it hosts the Buccaneers in Week 11, and still needs to face the Philadelphia Eagles, the Houston Texans, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Star tight end Dalton Kincaid also suffered an injury on Sunday, with concerns over his availability moving forward.
If Allen is to defend his NFL MVP crown, the Bills will need to make a statement through the final eight games.
