Ipswich Town Under-21s duo Luca Fletcher and Woody Williamson have been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for October.

The young Blues have played key roles in a successful month for John McGreal and Chris Casement's side that saw them pick up three wins from their three PL2 games, leaving them top of the table.

Goalkeeper Williamson picked up two clean sheets in the 1-0 wins over Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, conceding just once in the 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 19-year-old from Chelmsford joined the Blues as a schoolboy in 2020, having started his youth career at Arsenal. He signed his first professional deal at the club in 2023.

Forward Fletcher, who is on loan for the season from Manchester City, has played a pivotal role in Town's attack, which scored five goals in three games.

The 18-year-old's loan deal is reported to have an obligation to buy and is also said to include buy-back and sell-on clauses. He is primarily a central striker but can also operate on the left and right wing, netting on his Town U21s debut in the impressive 4-2 win over Chelsea in September.

Also nominated for the award are: Brandon Powell (Blackburn Rovers), Gabriele Biancheri (Manchester United), Mahamadou Sangaré (Manchester City), Laurence Giani (Stoke City), Luca Williams-Barnett (Tottenham Hotspur) and Seb Naylor (Manchester City).

The nominees were selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel, who will also decide the winner, which will be announced on Friday.
