What David Moyes has noticed about Hill Dickinson Stadium and how it can be fixed

Everton’s new stadium is the talk of the Premier League, but David Moyes has noticed one small issue that he thinks will be solved as time goes by.

Moving away from Goodison Park was always going to be an emotional transition for Everton, but the slick, state-of-the-art facilities at Hill Dickinson Stadium have made it all the more easy.

There are plenty of positives about Hill Dickinson that have become apparent already, but there are negatives, too. Some have complained about access, others about the music used in the stadium, and now David Moyes has had his say.

The Everton manager had largely very positive things to say about the ground, but he did mention one thing that has been niggling him from time to time.

David Moyes thinks Everton have settled into their new home quickly

Speaking to Jeff Stelling on talkSPORT Live on Monday morning, Moyes was asked how he feels Everton have adjusted to life in their new stadium, and it sounds like he’s pretty pleased.

He said: “We’re pretty pleased with the start we’ve made at Hill Dickinson. After the first six games we were higher in the league but we’ve had some tough away games… we’ve been to Sunderland, Anfield, difficult games.

“I’m pleased with our home form, it can be difficult in a new stadium, it takes time to settle, but we’ve settled in quite quickly. It’s a brilliant stadium. It’s what we needed.”

Moyes has spoken recently about Everton’s evolution, and how Hill Dickinson plays a part in that. But, the Scotsman did say he’s noticed something about the atmosphere that needs resolving eventually.

“There are moments in the stadium where the atmosphere has been out of this world,” he added. “And there are moments of quiet too as it’s so big. But that’s a case of fans getting used to it and knowing their seats and the people around them etc.”

Hill Dickinson Stadium has changed the game for Everton

Minor issues aside, the first few months of Hill Dickinson Stadium’s existence have been overwhelmingly positive.

Even rival supporters love it, with Fulham fans the latest to praise Hill Dickinson even after losing to Everton this weekend.

It’s one of the very best stadiums in England, if not the world now, and Everton are only going to benefit both on and off the pitch because of that.

You look at Tottenham Hotspur as an example and the astounding commercial growth they’ve enjoyed in their new stadium, and it’s clear the same could and should end up happening for the Toffees.

With plans to expand the stadium to 62,000 capacity, too, that means even more revenue is on the way. Add to that the proposal for more rugby matches at Hill Dickinson, and Everton will be laughing all the way to the bank.
