In a tale which sums up what football is all about, the Blue Brazil Essex Branch travel 428 miles to attend Cowdenbeath FC matches.
Liverpool fan Rob explained why he swapped Anfield for the Blue Brazil. He said: “At the age of 44, after being a football goer since I was nine, I needed to come up and watch the Scottish team I picked back in the ‘90s – Cowdenbeath.”
You are probably wondering, why Cowdenbeath? But even Rob does not know: “I can’t tell you why, but that was it. They were my Scottish team.”
Before the days of online shopping, it was a lot more difficult for someone from Essex to get their hand on the Fife side’s shirt, but Rob found a way.
After a £35 cheque, and a letter to the club, his first Blue Brazil shirt arrived a few weeks later. A shirt that he still treasures to this day.
Finally, Rob made his New Central Park debut in 2024 for a match against Bo’ness.
“Despite the 2–1 loss, the whole day was brilliant — the best of my calendar year,” he said.
Since then, he has been hooked, and its not just him.
He had been travelling with his friend Paul, a West Ham fan who has also found himself connected to the club.
They then decided to start the Blue Brazil Essex Branch.
Now five people strong, there have also been several other curious friends asking questions about getting involved.
The group most certainly have written themselves into the club’s history.
They have previously been Captain’s armband sponsors, visited the club’s hospitality and currently sponsor forward Darren Downie for the 2025/26 campaign.
The guys despite living so far away, most certainly have the Blue Brazil in their hearts.
