Having followed Ibrahima Konate closely for the majority of the season so far, it appears Real Madrid have recently shifted their preferences.
Instead of Liverpool defender Konate, Real Madrid have set their sights on his compatriot Dayot Upamecano, whose contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season.
Upamecano is regarded highly in the Real Madrid camp, with recent reports suggesting that Konate is no longer a priority for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid on red alert on Upamecano’s situation
This is now confirmed by Sky Sports’ Sacha Tavolieri, who suggests that Real Madrid are indeed closely tracking the progress of Dayot Upamecano.
The Spanish giants are aware that they could be awarded a market opportunity should Upamecano fail to negotiate a deal with Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians, for their part, are keen on keeping hold of the French international, who had joined the club RB Leipzig in 2021.

The report adds that the interest from Real Madrid could potentially tempt Upamecano even as he tries to negotiate a contract extension at Bayern Munich.
A lot may, therefore, depend on how the former Leipzig defender continues his progress at Bayern Munich.
So far, the Frenchman has been a central figure in Bayern Munich’s defence, which has conceded only six goals in the first ten matches.
The coming few weeks, therefore, could prove to be critical as Real Madrid look to continue tempting Upamecano with an opportunity to wear the famous white from next season.
Given his status as a potential free agent next summer, coupled with his vast experience at the highest level of football, Upamecano could pose healthy competition for Real Madrid’s defensive duo Eder Militao and Dean Huijsen, thus making him an ideal target for Los Blancos.
