Former NFL quarterback turned analyst Matt Ryan believes the New England Patriots are legit.
The Patriots went on the road to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and picked up a 28-23 win to improve to 8-2 on the season and have won seven-straight games. New England is third in the AFC and is atop the AFC East.
Following the win, Ryan, who’s now a CBS analyst, called the Patriots the real deal and believes they are a legit contender.
“New England Patriots are for real, they are for real,” Ryan [said](https://x.com/NFLonCBS/status/1987641320026828868) on CBS’s Postgame Show on Sunday. “Go on the road to play against a good Tampa Bay team right there. Drake Maye makes a mistake, looks like a rookie, towards the end of the game. Turnover in the red zone.
“What does that team do? Defense steps up when they needed it the most. I think they are a complete football team; they are going to be a problem for teams as November and December roll on.”

It’s high praise from Ryan, who was the NFL MVP in 2016, and believes the Patriots are a legit contender.
In the Patriots’ win, Maye went 16-for-31 for 270 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, as the sophomore quarterback has become a legit MVP contender.
