Arsenal defender Katie Reid ruptures her ACL

Arsenal defender Katie Reid has ruptured her ACL Arsenal have confirmed. The 19-year-old fought her way into the starting line-up earlier this season ahead of Lotte Wubben-Moy and Laia Codina following injury to Leah Williamson and earned her first England call-up last month.

She had to pull out of that squad with an unrelated groin problem, she was a late substitute in the 4-1 victory over Leicester last weekend, but we understand that the injury occurred in training last week. Manu Zinsberger ruptured her ACL in training recently, though goalkeepers train separately from outfield players in the main. Michelle Agyemang also ruptured hers playing for England recently.

It is part of yet another spate of ACL injuries throughout the game, Liverpool have three and Bayern’s Lena Oberdorf ruptured hers for the second time in quick succession recently. It is an enormous shame for Reid who was enjoying a breakthrough season, which has now been curtailed and she will work to recover for the 2026-27 season.
