‘Who knows in January’ – Newcastle United given encouragement for move

Newcastle United made a late attempt to sign Davide Frattesi in the summer.

The move didn’t go through. So far this season, the midfielder has been a bit-part player at the Italian side.

He’s played less than 200 minutes in Serie A, dropping to the lowest in Inter Milan’s midfield pecking order.

For any player, alarm bells would be ringing in a situation like this. InterLive believe that the 26-year-old’s time is up at Inter.

They note that Newcastle United made a summer approach. The Magpies offered an initial loan with an option to buy.

Inter believed that this wasn’t good enough for them at the time. If Newcastle United offer similar terms in January, it’s expected a deal will go through. When it comes to whether Newcastle will try, InterLive state ‘Who knows in January?’, but it appears Inter would like them to.

Competition has risen for the Italy international since then. AS Roma and Juventus can become options for the player, who came through the Giallorossi youth academy.

The outlet believe the Premier League is a likelier option for Frattesi.

This should come as encouragement for Newcastle United. The midfielder’s value has almost certainly come down since the summer due to his lack of game time.
