Derrick Henry has built one of the most dominant résumés in NFL history — and now, he’s reached a milestone that connects back to where it all began. With 75 rushing yards in the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 10 win over the Minnesota Vikings, Henry’s career total hit 12,127 yards, making him the 17th player ever to eclipse 12,000 yards. It alsohappens to match the exact total he posted as a high school player at Yulee High in Florida.
Henry’s latest accomplishment is staggering, but in his own words, “insane.” His high school coach, Bobby Ramsay, still can’t believe it. “It took longer, but those two levels are a little different,” Ramsay toldESPN. “That rushing record in high school had stood for 59 years, so even coming close to it in the NFL is remarkable. Breaking it is just insane.”
At 30 years old, Henry’s Hall of Fame trajectory is undeniable. His consistency has carried him from Yulee to Alabama to an eight-year run with the Tennessee Titans, and now into a new chapter with the Ravens. And yet, even as he moves up the NFL’s all-time rushing list — recently passing Thurman Thomas and Franco Harris — the running back is more focused on the next generation chasing his legacy.

While Henry’s name dominates NFL highlight reels, his legendary high school rushing record could soon belong to someone else. Myles McLaughlin, a senior at Knox Community High School in Indiana, is just 1,121 yards away from breaking Henry’s all-time high school record of 12,124 yards.
If Knox makes a deep playoff run, McLaughlin could have up to four games to reach the milestone. He’d need to average 280 yards per game — a tall order for most players, but McLaughlin has already averaged 327 yards per contest this season.
Henry, appearing on the“Up & Adams” show with host Kay Adams, didn’t hesitate to offer his blessing. “Go break it, man. Recordsare meant tobe broken,” he said. “I’ve had it for 10-plus years.Go get it.Go break the record, man. I hope you win a state championship with it.”
The Ravens star’s response perfectly captures his competitive spirit — and his humility. “That’s what I love about Derrick,” Ramsay said. “He’s never been afraid of the next guy coming up.Hejust works, and he respects the game.”

Sunday’s performance alsomoved him into 15th place on the NFL’s all-time rushing list, passing Hall of Famers Franco Harris and Thurman Thomas. Every eligible player with 12,000 career rushing yardsis already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which puts Henry in rare company.
