Kieran Trippier applauds fans after NUFC's 3-1 defeat at Brentford
Newcastle United latest news: Details on how Newcastle United fans can purchase tickets for the Wear-Tyne derby with Sunderland in December have been confirmed.
The Magpies won their last meeting with Sunderland in January 2024, triumphing 3-0 at the Stadium of Light in an FA Cup 3rd Round meeting. Next month’s Premier League game, though, will be the first time that Eddie Howe and Regis Le Bris have squared off in opposite dugouts.
A statement released by Newcastle United revealed that they have been allocated 2,582 tickets for the game at the Stadium of Light, with Sunderland fans set to receive the same amount for the reverse fixture, scheduled to be played at St James’ Park at the end of March.
That statement read: ‘Newcastle United has been allocated 2,528 away tickets, ahead of the ticket application window opening at 2pm (GMT) on Monday, 10th November. Sunderland will receive the same away allocation for the reverse fixture at St. James' Park in March, following an agreement between both clubs.’
It must be noted that the meeting at St James’ Park, currently scheduled to take place on the weekend of March 21, could be moved if the Magpies progress to the Carabao Cup final which is also set to be played on the same weekend. Sunderland were knocked out of that competition at home to League One side Huddersfield Town in August.
Newcastle United reveal coach travel for Sunderland clash
The clash between Sunderland and Newcastle United has not been designated as a ‘bubble fixture’. That means that Newcastle United fans can travel to the Stadium of Light however they please, although the club have confirmed that they will be putting on coaches for the game.

‘The club will offer a bus service departing from St. James' Park for those who wish to travel by coach, priced at £5 per person. Bus tickets will be available for purchase alongside securing a ticket for the fixture. Supporters will be given a designated departure time for their coach. Further supporter travel information and guidance will be shared ahead of the fixture.’
The last meeting between Magpies and Black Cats saw Newcastle United fans instructed to travel to the Stadium of Light on coaches from St James’ Park, with fans only receiving their match ticket to the game once they were seated on a coach.
Because of FA Cup rules, though, Newcastle United were given a much larger ticket allocation on that day than they have been given for their Premier League meeting next month.
The £30 price cap on away tickets in the Premier League will remain unchanged for this match. Over-65 tickets will cost £29, Under-18’s £18 and Under-14’s £16.
Supporters who meet the loyalty points threshold for this match will be emailed by 1pm on Wednesday 12 November.
