How Pif feels about Eddie Howe after Newcastle United's poor start to Premier League season

**Newcastle United are really struggling in the Premier League this season. Still without a win on the road, the Magpies sit just two points off the drop zone.**

It's a very different story in the cups, however, with just the defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League as a black mark on that record so far.

The big question is, with large portions of the Newcastle fan base starting to turn on the manager, is a cup run enough to save his job?

Newcastle's majority owners, the PIF, certainly didn't pump all of this money into the club to be part of a relegation scrap, but at the same time, they seem more aware than other owners that chopping and changing managers ultimately doesn't help anyone.

Still the right man for the job

Eddie Howe still has the full support of PIF

--------------------------------------------

A report in [The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-owners-stance-eddie-32842117) suggests that Eddie Howe still has the full backing of the owners, and we have absolutely no problem with that.

We will criticise Eddie when we feel he needs it, and yesterday he certainly earned a lot of criticism, but our overall feeling is that Eddie Howe is the right man for the job.

Why the faith? Well, we've been here before. We've had poor runs of form, but we've always pulled it back. Last season, we faced an inquest after losing 4-2 to Brentford, and then we went on to qualify for the Champions League and add a trophy to the cabinet for the first time in decades.

Stability works!

----------------

Eddie Howe is repairing a team rocked by the behaviour of one of its biggest stars in the summer all while his support group, those above him who are there to help make his life easier was falling apart.

We have a new CEO and a new sporting director who weren't here during the summer. It's all change behind the scenes, and there's even a lot of change in the dressing room too.

The new players who have come in are different to those they're replacing. Nick Woltemade is so different to Alexander Isak in every way, and he, Eddie Howe and all of the players around him need to adapt and come up with a way of working together to be successful.

Things like that take time. Granted, it's taking longer than we'd like or even feel comfortable with, but we are keeping the faith. It will come good. And as long as we, and the board, give Howe the time, he'll put things right.

Our feeling is, the moment they sack Eddie Howe, the slippery slope of binning managers after a few months will begin. Stability is key. Arsenal fans had to endure a long time of Mikel Arteta being crap, but look at them now.
