Chelsea misfit dealt blow by Bayern Munich, Premier League switch likely amid Everton links

Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson looks set to return to the Premier League as Bayern Munich decide against signing him permanently.

According to a report from Football Insider, Bayern Munich are unlikely to activate the purchase option in Nicolas Jackson’s loan deal. The Senegalese forward now appears set for a return to the Premier League, with Everton emerging as strong contenders for his signature.

The Blues forked out a fortune to reinforce their attack in the summer. They brought in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, pushing Jackson down the pecking order. The 24-year-old was not willing to play a backup role and ended up pushing for a move away from the club.

Bayern Munich came forward and struck a deal with the Blues to sign the Senegalese striker on loan for the 2025/26 season. Both clubs agreed on a purchase option worth £70 million. While reports suggest there are conditions that can make it an obligation, as things stand, it looks very unlikely.

Bayern Munich decide against signing Jackson permanently

Jackson has racked up just over 400 minutes of first-team action in his 12 outings, and he has contributed towards only four goals. He has not had the kind of impact Bayern Munich were hoping for; as a result, they have already decided not to make the move permanent.

The German club will not trigger the buy option, and they will likely send him back to West London, despite having held talks to negotiate a lower fee. While Nicolas Jackson’s contract at Chelsea runs until 2033, he does not seem to have a future at Stamford Bridge. The 24-year-old could actually end up joining Everton as early as January.

Everton keen on signing Nicolas Jackson

Jackson could return to England in the winter window, and the Toffees seem quite keen on his signature, as they look to solve their goalscoring problems. David Moyes is concerned about Beto’s form, and Thierno Barry has not lived up to the expectations since joining them in the summer.

As a result, signing a new number nine is a top priority for them, and Nicolas Jackson is seen as an ideal fit for Moyes’s system. Since a lot of factors are involved in a potential transfer, it will be interesting to see if the Merseyside club can sign him.
