Bears' Ben Johnson Reveals Cryptic Injury Update on Star WR

The Chicago Bears rallied for a pivotal 24-20 win over the New York Giants on Sunday, but not before one of their key players went down with an injury.

Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter against the Giants and had some work done in the medical tent and on the sideline leading into halftime. He did return in the second half, but was only targeted one time in a clearly reduced role the rest of the way.

This has many wondering about Moore’s status heading into Chicago’s Week 11 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, and head coach Ben Johnson provided a rather murky update on this situation.

"Unknown yet, but he'll do everything he can [to play]," Johnson told reporters. "I think we have a bunch of selfless guys on offense right now that, like I said, they're going to do whatever they can to be out on the field for their buddies."

The fact that Moore returned to action - even though it was rather brief - in the third quarter on Sunday is a strong indication that the injury is not all that serious, so perhaps the 28-year-old will be able to take the field versus the Vikings.

However, Johnson is clearly not entirely convinced that Moore will be available for the upcoming NFC North clash, and if Moore is unable to go, it would definitely be a significant blow to the offense.

Moore has logged 30 catches for 403 yards and a touchdown on the season. He initially arrived in the Windy City via trade with the Carolina Panthers in 2023 (the Bears dealt the No. 1 overall pick to the Panthers as part of the deal) and hauled in 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight scores during his debut campaign with the Bears. He then caught 98 passes for 966 yards while reaching the end zone six times last season.

The good news is that Chicago does have other prominent weapons. In fact, both Rome Odunze and Olamide Zaccheaus have registered more catches than Moore in 2025, with Odunze also having racked up 559 yards and six touchdowns.

Quarterback Caleb Williams has not been playing great football this season, completing just 60.8 percent of his passes, but the Bears’ playmakers have been good enough to help lead the team to a 6-3 record.

Chicago has not posted a winning campaign since 2018.
