The Sunderland Echo Morning Update Monday 10 November, 2025
Sunderland AFC stars Enzo Le Fée, Harrison Jones, and Zak Johnson joined children at the Beacon of Light to help promote the importance of young people getting involved in sport.
The players spoke with children involved in sports activities organised by the Black Cats official charity, The Foundation of Light.

The trio joined in some of the games and answered questions from the children about life as a footballer and advice for young players.

The stars also posed for photographs with the children.
The players visit helped to promote the Region of Sport, a collaboration between the North East’s top five sports foundations – Foundation of Light, Newcastle United Foundation, Durham Cricket Foundation, Newcastle Rugby Foundation, and Eagles Community Foundation.

The initiative also saw the Beacon of Light welcome Durham Cricket Foundation as they hosted their Region of Sport launch session. Youngsters were able to try their hand at a range of cricket related bat and ball games.
As part of the initiative the Foundation of Light was also able to showcase its outreach delivery and centre’s outside of the city’s boundaries including at Beamish Football Centre in Stanley.
