Leeds United were beaten 3-1 by Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon, and it surely leaves Daniel Farke’s managerial position under serious threat.
United’s chances of Premier League survival were always going to be put into real doubt throughout this first season back.
The weekend’s defeat at Nottingham Forest is the first time it’s looked more of a probability than a possibility. Especially with Daniel Farke at the helm.

Nottingham Forest 3-1 Leeds United: Calls for Daniel Farke sack intensify
Up until Brighton away at the start of November, Leeds have largely looked competitive in all but one of their games, thumped by Arsenal early on.
However, a 3-0 battering at the AMEX, followed by a limp performance away at Forest signals a worrying drop-off from United since the October international break. That was briefly broken up by a much-needed win at home to a terrible West Ham.
Lukas Nmecha looked like he’d set Leeds on the way to getting back on track. But seconds later, Sean Dyche’s side were back on level terms. Leeds again failed to track midfield runners, with Ibrahim Sangare following up Lucas Perri’s palmed cross.

The game then gradually slipped away from Leeds. Dyche’s triple-substitution proved crucial in the second half, tipping the scoreline in their favour. Omari Hutchinson came off the bench to set up the goal for 2-1. Then, he won the penalty for 3-1 in stoppage time as he was tripped by Jack Harrison filling in at left-back.
Online, the mood was as you’d expect at full-time. Individuals of course didn’t cover themselves in glory, but frustration was centred at the man in the dugout.
Monday morning post from Leeds United sparks unsurprising response aimed at Daniel Farke
With an international break now looming, the fans will be stewing on back-to-back woeful performances. So, that vitriol is likely to be focused on any and all social media content put out by the club.
It’s Dan James’ 28th birthday today. Naturally, the club put out a post on X wishing the winger many happy returns as he prepares for an important international break with Wales.
You’d think that the majority of comments underneath would be positive messages for Leeds’ winger, but you’d be wrong. At lunchtime, I counted four out of around 60 comments underneath the post that were about James’ birthday. Almost all of the rest, as you can guess, were wondering where the corner flag image is – alluding to a club statement on a manager departure.
It’s incredible how the mood has shifted since a big win at home to West Ham merely two weeks ago. But, something that cannot be denied is that the mood has shifted. It no longer feels like a polarising debate on the manager when you look on social media, it’s all of a sudden swung heavily one way, and not the way Farke wanted it to go.
