The Seattle Seahawks have found a true star. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has shown glimpses of great play, but he’s taken things to a new level this season.

The third-year player has established himself as one of the most dominant wide receivers in the league. In a Week 10 victory against the Arizona Cardinals, he joined exclusive WR company.

“Jaxon Smith-Njigba joined Antonio Brown from 2014 and Michael Irvin from 1995 as the only players in NFL history with at least 75 receiving yards in each of their first nine games of a season,” Adam Schefter wrote on X.

The Seahawks chose to part with both Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf this offseason. It was clearly a bold decision, but so far, it has proven to be the right one.

Smith-Njigba was known as a slot specialist. This year, however, he’s expanded his route tree and has become a much more versatile player, also doing damage on the outside.

His connection with new quarterback Sam Darnold is arguably the best in the league right now. With the way they are playing, Smith-Njigba could become the first wide receiver in NFL history to reach 2,000 receiving yards in a season.

The Seahawks are looking like a contender in the NFC West and in the conference overall. They are undoubtedly part of the “Super Bowl contender” conversation.

Granted, the Cardinals aren’t the best opponent to measure whether a team is a contender or not, but they can only beat whoever is in front of them. With head coach Mike Macdonald orchestrating an elite defense and the passing game firing on all cylinders, the Seahawks look to be for real.
