The Green Bay Packers will be facing the Philadelphia Eagles in a marquee matchup on Monday night in what could ultimately serve as a potential NFC Championship Game preview.
While the Packers are at home, most people seem to be picking the Eagles to win this game. Green Bay just lost to the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field last week while Philadelphia has won two straight games and is coming out of a bye week.
However, Kyle Quinn of 94 WIP almost certainly stepped over the line in his assessment of the contest in the lead up to the clash, going as far to say that the Packers’ Week 1 win over the Detroit Lions shouldn’t even really count.
“Week 1’s the type of thing where you don’t really know who anybody is,” Quinn said. “You might not be the team you’re supposed to be. … So that one, I can’t even really count that.”
Green Bay can definitely put that wild statement up on its bulletin board heading into the matchup, because it is definitely one of the most out there takes you will hear.
Quinn added that he just doesn’t think the Packers are that good and went on to add that he doesn’t feel quarterback Jordan Love is very good at all, and while most would disagree with those two statements, they are at least somewhat valid opinions. After, all Green Bay has lost to the Cleveland Browns and the Panthers, and Love is still largely unproven.
But not counting a win simply because it came in the season opener just doesn’t make any sense. It’s also not like the Lions are a team with a whole bunch of new faces. They mostly brought back the same team from last year that won 15 games, so the Packers’ victory over Detroit was impressive regardless of how you spin it.
Green Bay is certainly seeking some revenge on the Eagles, who beat the Packers in Week 1 last year and then defeated Green Bay again in the playoffs.
The Packers are definitely a bit different this time around with Micah Parsons on the edge, and there is no doubt that Love looks improved from last season. But Green Bay has certainly been a hard team to figure out thus far in 2025.
We’ll see which team emerges on top in a game that could ultimately determine home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs.
