Liverpool suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
The clash was eventful, with Giorgi Mamardashvili saving an Erling Haaland penalty before the City striker opened the scoring with a 29th-minute header.
It appeared that Virgil van Dijk had equalised with a header of his own, but the goal was ruled out for offside against Andy Robertson.
Man City then extended their lead to 2-0 in first-half added time as Nico Gonzalez’s long-range shot deflected into the net.
Liverpool started brightly in the second half, but any hope of a comeback was extinguished by Jeremy Doku’s strike just after the hour mark.
Following the disappointing defeat, attention has turned to the future of head coach Arne Slot.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update, confirming that Liverpool fully back Slot.
The Premier League champions believe he is the right man for the job.
“A really difficult moment for Liverpool in the Premier League because in the Champions League they’ve been able to fix the situation by beating Real Madrid very well,” Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“Playing a very good game at Anfield, but despite the recent good results, also against Aston Villa, so a different trend for Liverpool.
“Well, against Manchester City, Liverpool were not performing. Liverpool were in a difficult situation.
“They lost 3-0, a very complicated game for the Reds, and it’s important to mention for Liverpool their fifth defeat in the last six games, so for sure a big impact also in terms of numbers, also in terms of stats.
“For Liverpool, imagine they have already lost more games in the Premier League this season compared to all last season, after spending an important month in the summer.
“So it’s been a complicated start of the season for Liverpool, but what we can say is that the information arrives very clear, Liverpool keep backing the manager Arne Slot.
“Liverpool keep supporting the coach. Liverpool keep believing Arne Slot is the right man for this job.
“He is the right man to fix the situation.
“He is the right man to help this team perform after many signings, after many changes, after many different things compared to last season, and so Liverpool maintain their confidence in the manager.
“There is no contact with any other agent or representative of a different manager.
“There is full trust in Arne Slot from the players and from the club, so the situation remains absolutely 100% under control, and Liverpool have absolutely no intention to change anything.
“That’s important to clarify, as after the defeats obviously some fans keep asking what’s going to happen with the coach, what’s going to happen with the club, what’s going to happen with the owners, but they are all going in the same direction.”
The Dutchman’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire in the summer of 2027.
