Arne Slot had hoped Liverpool had turned a corner following impressive victories over Aston Villa and Real Madrid.

However, the Reds fell to a humbling 3-0 defeat against Manchester City in their final game before the November international break.

Liverpool have, however, contacted refereeing body PGMOL to express serious concerns over Virgil van Dijk’s disallowed goal in Sunday’s defeat to Man City.

With a gruelling run of fixtures now behind them, Liverpool players will shift their focus to international duty, with several facing decisive fixtures in World Cup qualification.

A total of 20 Liverpool players will represent their countries during the November international break, including 15 senior internationals, as the race to reach next year’s tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico nears its conclusion.

The final round of European qualifiers takes place over the coming week, with several of the players hoping to secure their places at the World Cup or at least clinch a play-off spot.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah, Alexis Mac Allister, and Wataru Endo will feature in friendlies for their respective nations, having already secured qualification.

There are, however, some notable absentees. Alisson Becker, Jeremie Frimpong, and Giovanni Leoni remain sidelined through injury, while Federico Chiesa and Curtis Jones have again missed out on call-ups.

Alexander Isak, who was an unused substitute against Man City, is likely to feature for Sweden despite only recently returning to training.

“For me, he is in the end stage of his rehab,” Slot told Sky Sports ahead of kick-off on Sunday.

“Had two training sessions with us.

“Yes, we have trained, but not with the intensity that would have been best for Alex. He is there if he needs to help us.”
