**Journalist Graeme Bailey has provided a key update regarding Andy Robertson’s Liverpool future and a potential move to Celtic next summer.**
Robertson has enjoyed a resurgence of late, albeit struggling like so many in the 3-0 defeat at Man City, taking Milos Kerkez’s place at left-back.
The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season, however, meaning he and Liverpool have big decisions to make over a potential new deal.
Speaking to [_67HailHail_](https://www.67hailhail.com/news/where-andy-robertson-stands-on-possible-celtic-move-as-liverpool-future-is-set-to-be-discussed/), Bailey claimed that Robertson still sees his future at Anfield for the time being, despite rumours of a move to Celtic:
“Everyone is aware of Robertson’s ties with Celtic, but as it stands I am told that the player firmly believes he still has a future at Liverpool,” Bailey said.
His deal at Anfield is due to expire, but I believe that as it stands they will be talking to him soon, probably heading into the New Year about new terms.
“It won’t be long-term but as he has proven so far this season that he is more than capable of playing at the top-level.”
**Does Robertson merit a contract extension at Liverpool?**

Robertson dipped below his best last season, despite Liverpool winning the Premier League title, and while he has improved this time around, he still isn’t the force he once was.
That said, the Scotland captain remains a strong squad option currently, and a more experienced and intelligent choice to start over Kerkez, with journalist [Henry Winter](https://x.com/henrywinter/status/1985832266434482285?s=20) lauding him recently:
_“Andy Robertson is the left-back who just can’t be left out. He has such high standards, demanding of himself and others. He brings intensity, belief and defensive nous. He’ll need occasional rest, he’s 31, Kerkez can step in, but LFC look tougher to beat with Robertson.”_
Robertson deserves a new contract, as long as he is happy to accept a relatively short-term extension, so the hope is that he would rather stay put at Liverpool instead of returning to his homeland with Celtic.
It is easy to envisage him finishing his career there eventually, but he still has enough in the tank to be an asset for the Reds for another year or two.
