Landon Jackson waited patiently for an opportunity with the Buffalo Bills.
Buffalo’s 2025 third-round pick was inactive multiple times this season due to the team’s depth at the position, but Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins seemed like his chance to make an impact. Michael Hoecht suffered a torn Achilles the previous week in Buffalo’s win against the Kansas City Chiefs while A.J. Epenesa was out with a concussion. With limited defensive ends, Jackson seemed poised to play significant snaps.
Unfortunately, that is not how things played out. On his second snap of the game, Jackson fell to the ground grabbing his knee. He was ruled out of the game shortly thereafter and now it seems as though his rookie season is over.
On Monday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Jackson suffered a torn MCL and PCL during Buffalo’s 30-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Schultz said that the team is still evaluating a timeline for the injury, but added that a full recovery is expected.
Buffalo showed significant interest in Jackson throughout the pre-draft process. The Bills met with the Arkansas prospect at the combine and held multiple meetings with Jackson leading up to the draft.
“I feel like I’ve talked to the Bills eight times by now,” Jackson said following Arkansas’ pro day via KTAL News. The Bills are a team I’ve talked to a lot, Commanders, pretty wide open but Bills and Commanders were my two formals at the combine,” said Jackson.
Jackson showed off his athleticism throughout the draft process. The 6′6″ and 267-pound defensive end ran a 4.68 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine while showing off a 40.5-inch vertical jump. He was also productive on the field during his time at Arkansas. In his final two seasons with the Razorbacks, Jackson recorded 93 tackles (24 tackles for loss) and 13 sacks.
