Gabe Vincent progressing from ankle injury, still on initial recovery timeline

While much of the discussion about the Lakers’ injuries has centered on Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves and LeBron James, they aren’t the only ones who have missed time.

On Saturday, head coach JJ Redick provided an update on Gabe Vincent — despite saying there was no update — in which he noted that he was still on pace to return in that 2-4 week window.

That’s a lot of information for no update!

Really, the “no update” part probably means there’s no medical update, just plenty of other stuff.

On Monday, Vincent and Adou THiero were on the court after shootaround going through shooting drills, which doesn’t differ from anything Redick said in his update/non-update.

I would imagine the plan for Vincent will involve him continuing on-court, non-contact work for much of the next week, then potentially moving forward from there when the Lakers return to LA and have extended time to practice.

After playing on Nov. 15 in Milwaukee, the Lakers play once over the next week. That feels like the time when players are going to return to the court like Vincent, LeBron James and, potentially, Adou Thiero.

That week of time off and practice could serve as a mini reset for the Lakers after their injuries to start the year. And if multiple players can return, it could be a huge boost to a team that has played shorthanded all season long so far.
