Bengals Announce Massive Joe Burrow News

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback suffered a turf toe injury during the team’s Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the news was a double-whammy because he also missed a good portion of last season with a torn wrist ligament.

But Bengals fans who are looking to Burrow to help turn around the franchise’s 3-6 season just got a huge ray of hope because the team took a big step toward getting its All-Pro QB back, officially opening his 21-day practice window on Monday, as confirmed b the team on social media.

“To continue the recovery process for QB Joe Burrow, the Bengals today advanced him for a limited return to practice so he can begin progressing on-field activities,” the Benagls stated on their official website. “Burrow, a sixth-year player, has been on the Reserve/Injured list since Sept. 16 with a toe injury.

“Today starts a 21-day period during which he may begin limited practice with the team without counting against the 53-player active roster. He is eligible to be activated to the roster during the 21-day period.”

Burrow will practice with the team while not counting as a member of the Bengals’ 53-man roster. Cincinnati has 21 days to officially add him to the roster or he will return to IR and miss the rest of the season.

This timeline lines up with previous reports that indicated he would be back with the team by December. Burrow had surgery on his toe on Sept. 19, and at the time, he had a predicted three-month recovery.

While Burrow continues on his road to recovery, Joe Flacco will remain the team’s starter. Cincinnati’s next game is a Week 11 contest with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday on the road.
