Joe Burrow returned to practice for the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday. He was required to cross a road in the cold and snow while heading from the stadium to the team facility.

The organization really doesn’t want you to know!

Most NFL teams have their practice fields attached to either their game stadium or to the team facility and their locker rooms are not far from the gridiron. Not in the Queen City.

Joe Burrow is back at practice!

Burrow returned to practice in a limited capacity on Monday. This surprising update comes less than two months after he was placed on Injured Reserve with Grade 3 turf toe.

The initial diagnosis did not sound good. Most medical experts did not expect him to return to activity this early, if at all. There was a good chance he was going to miss the entire year. There still is.

However, his rehab has reportedly gone much better (and faster) than expected.

“Last week Joe Burrow told me he’s returning wayyyy sooner than was expected and gave me the timeline of ‘Thanksgiving-ish,'” said Jay Glazer.

The Bengals officially opened Burrow’s 21-day window to be activated off of injury reserve on Monday. He can now practice for three weeks without counting against the 53-man roster.

It will be a slow build back to full participation.

It’s been 57 days since he injured his toe.

The 28-year-old starting quarterback seemed to move pretty well during the brief window where media were allowed to watch.

Three weeks from Monday is Dec. 1. That would put Joe Burrow on track for a potential return to game action against the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 7. We’ll see.

The Cincinnati Bengals must cross the street to get to practice.

Due to logistical challenges, the Bengals were not able to build their practice facility right next to its stadium. Paycor Stadium sits right in the middle of downtown Cincinnati, on the southernmost border of Ohio.

It is surrounded by transit roads, bridges, the interstate and a river.

As a result of its location, the Bengals were forced to build their outdoor practice field across the street. Players must walk across Central Avenue to get to practice during the warmer weather.

Joe Flacco did it for the first time just a few weeks ago.

Here is a video of Joe Burrow arriving to the practice over the summer:

You get the idea. Players must walk across the street and the team doesn’t like when you joke about it.

Apparently the #Bengals are a little thin-skinned about the dumb wisecracks of them making the players cross a city street to practice.

They’re now not allowing pictures or videos to be taken — on a public sidewalk — from the practice field side of the street.

Well, it appears as though the players must walk a little bit further to get to the indoor facility!

Cincinnati got its first snow of the year on Monday. Temperatures hovered around 30 degrees.

Thus, practice was moved inside to the bubble. The Bengals built (inflated) a “temporary” indoor facility within walking distance of the stadium and outdoor practice field back in 2022. As far as I am aware, players must walk even a little bit further, approximately five minutes, to get to the bubble.

I would hope the team has a shuttle for players on cold and snowy days like Monday. Either way, Burrow was still freezing upon arrival to the bubble.

The Cincinnati Bengals do not have an indoor practice facility attached to their stadium. Players must go outside to cross a busy street, whether on foot or by shuttle, to get to practice in the snow!
