James Tarkowski left baffled by strange incident with former Everton target during Fulham clash

Everton defender James Tarkowski found himself in a strange incident with Fulham defender Kenny Tete on Saturday.

The Toffees beat Fulham 2-0 on Saturday afternoon as Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane both found the net.

After a frustrating 1-1 draw at Sunderland, Everton responded with a strong home win at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton ended a run of one win in seven Premier League games and now head into the international break on a high.

James Tarkowski on Kenny Tete incident in Everton win

Everton were deserved winners and stood up to the battle against Marco Silva’s side.

Kenny Tete relished his battle with Jack Grealish, but took it a step further with James Tarkowski.

Tarkowski clashed with Tete during the first half, as the Dutchman used a rather strange method to try and wind up the Everton defender.

“He gave me a nipple cripple, I think, which I’ve not had for a while,” said Tarkowski while laughing at the Dutchman’s antics.

Everton wanted to sign Tete over the summer, but he performed a late U-turn and stayed at Fulham, so he could have easily been Tarkowski’s teammate.

Tete served up a strong display against Everton, but still ended up on the losing side as Tarkowski had the last laugh following that bizarre first-half incident.

Tarkowski, ever the professional, simply laughed off the incident with Tete and focused on a strong Everton display.

“I thought, today, we dominated in both boxes,” said Tarkowski while speaking to BBC Sport.

“We managed to get our heads on a few in their box and cause problems. We had a couple of disallowed goals which were close, but thankfully, got us a couple of goals in the back of the net that were allowed and yeah, big three points for us,” he added.

Tarkowski earned praise from pundit Danny Gabbidon for his display against Fulham, standing strong to help Everton pick up a clean sheet.

The stats look pretty good for Tarkowski, as he ranks first in the Premier League for aerial duels and blocked shots.

Tarkowski will hope to avoid any more Tete-like incidents moving forward, but he will continue to be a key leader in any battle Everton face this season.
