Newcastle United loanee missing from last two squads as 18-year-old's development hits skids

**David Hopkinson said he was conducting a 100-day review of Newcastle United and will be ruthless when making the changes he feels are necessary.**

Anyone who doesn't fit into his vision or is seen to be stealing a living is living on borrowed time. We've already seen some high-level individuals move on, and while there's been no confirmation that these moves were part of the review, two and two make four.

One person who must be absolutely caking themselves right now has to be Shola Ameobi as our current loans manager.

Shola's poor handling of loans has already ruined the career of Garang Kuol and has seen our players sent out to clubs way below the level they should be playing at.

Clueless

Antonio Cordero didn't even feature in KVC Westerlo's last two matchday squads

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ameobi's latest disaster was sending exciting young winger Antonio Cordero, who joined the Magpies in the summer after turning down Real Madrid and Barcelona, to Belgian side KVC Westerlo.

Westerlo are hovering just above the relegation zone in the Belgian Pro League on goal difference. Hardly an environment for a young prodigy to thrive.

Not that it matters, though, as Westerlo are ignoring their duties as a developing club anyway, as Cordero has yet to start a game for them, has only made seven appearances this season and wasn't even included in the last two matchday squads.

Newcastle need to recall Antonio Cordero and bin Shola Ameobi

-------------------------------------------------------------

Newcastle must recall Cordero from that disaster of a loan in January if they can, and find him a club in a more suitable league and one that will fulfil its promise of giving the lad some game time.

The idea when Newcastle signed him from Malaga was initially to loan him back. If only we'd stuck to that plan. The second tier in Spain is still better for his development than battling relegation in the top tier in Belgium, surely.

The sooner we get someone in to replace Ameobi, the better, with someone who actually knows what they're doing. Mind, we said that often enough about him as a striker, and we never did.
