Mayfieldcompleted 28 of 43 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. His passer rating of 106.1 marked another efficient performance in what has been a career year for the veteran quarterback.

The three touchdown passes gave Mayfield his 12th game with three or more scoring throws since the start of 2023. Only Detroit’s Jared Goff has more in that span with 13. Mayfield is tied with Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow at 12 such games.

Mayfield has thrown just two interceptions through nine games in 2025. His interception ratio of 8.00 ranks fourth in the NFL this season.

Only Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts and Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson at 15.00 and Los Angeles Rams’ Matthew Stafford at 12.50 have better ratios. Mayfield has avoided interceptions in seven of his nine starts this year.

Since joining Tampa Bay in 2023, Mayfield has thrown 85 touchdown passes. That total trails only Goff’s 87 for the most in the NFL over that period. Jackson ranks third with 80 touchdown passes since 2023.

Rookie Receivers Shine in Baker Mayfield’s Offense

Mayfield’s three touchdown passes against New England all went to rookies. First-round pick Emeka Egbuka caught a 21-yard score in the opening quarter.

Seventh-rounder Tez Johnson added touchdown grabs of 10 and 11 yards. They became the first pair of rookie receivers on the same team to catch touchdowns in the same game this season.

Egbuka and Johnson have combined for 932 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches through nine games. Those are the best numbers by any rookie duo in the NFL this year.

Egbuka leads all rookies with 677 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions. His 16.9 yards per catch average ranks fourth among all qualifying players in the league.

He is on pace for 1,279 receiving yards this season. That would break Michael Clayton’s Buccaneers rookie record of 1,193 yards set in 2004.

Egbuka recorded his third 100-yard game of the season with 115 yards on six catches against the Patriots. His three 100-yard performances are tied for fourth most in the NFL this year.

Johnson has caught at least 40 receiving yards in five straight games. That streak is tied for the longest by any rookie this season. Mayfield has posted a 129.9 passer rating when targeting Johnson in 2025.
