The last three weeks have been very up-and-down in the world of the New York Jets. In Week 8, the Jets secured their first win of the season, moving to 1-7. The fans, coaches, and players were all very happy to have finally accomplished this elusive feat. The vibes were very good going into the bye week. During this week, Week 9, the NFL trade deadline took place. The Jets shocked the entire league by moving two of their franchise cornerstones for a massive return of draft picks. Immediately, the sentiment around the Jets was that the tank was on. They would use this influx of draft picks to draft and build around a rookie quarterback. The reporting was that Aaron Glenn’s job was safe for 2026, as he “would not be judged during the 2025 season.”
Aaron Glenn Secures an Important Win as Jets Outlast Browns

How the Jets Secured Their Second Win
Fast-forward to Week 10, where the Jets faced the Browns in what many dubbed a “tank bowl.” Despite what many thought going into this game, these were not two teams trying to lose. The Jets opened up the scoring early on via the special teams with two return touchdowns. Those scores came from Kene Nwangwu and Isaiah Williams. This came after the Browns scored a touchdown, so the score was 14-7 in favor of New York. The Browns continued to battle back, and it became a chess match by the middle of the second quarter. Both teams traded defensive stops until the Jets took the lead in the fourth quarter. Finally, the Jets were able to outlast the Browns and secure their second win in a row.
The dagger came on a fourth down hard count by Justin Fields that drew Browns defensive end Cameron Thomas into the neutral zone. The offensive line was ecstatic, along with Aaron Glenn, who secured an important, gritty win.

Unfortunately, this win was not without its losses, as the Jets may have lost two starters due to injury. Rookie cornerback Azareye’h Thomas suffered a concussion during the game and is already ruled out for Week 11. The bigger news is that Garrett Wilson seemingly reinjured his knee late in the game. His status is up in the air for Thursday. He was a non-factor in this game, mostly due to the poor play of Justin Fields. However, this is still a potentially rough loss as Wilson is a player that defenses must respect.
Aaron Glenn says Azareye'h Thomas will not play against the Patriots on Thursday after being placed in concussion protocol.
They are still evaluating Garrett Wilson (knee). #Jets

Why This Win is Important for the Jets Coaching Staff, Especially Aaron Glenn
Although the offense, specifically Justin Fields and the passing game, was a brutal watch, the Jets never wavered and battled until the end. The defense got multiple stops in the second half, which allowed the offense multiple chances to get it right. They finally did at the start of the fourth quarter with the screen pass touchdown to Breece Hall. What this showed me was that the Jets are slowly figuring out how to win. Say what you will about the penalties on the final drive by the Browns, the Jets hung in there for four full quarters and got it done.
The Jets putting together these types of performances is important because Aaron Glenn will most likely be the coach next year. If they can establish winning ways to go along with the influx of potential talent in 2026 and 2027, the Jets could really turn this thing around. A miracle run to the playoffs is unlikely, so the Jets should be able to get a quarterback in 2026 still. The rest of this season should be about creating a culture that players both inside and outside of the Jets organization can buy into.
The Jets will look to continue their winning streak this Thursday against their longtime rivals, the New England Patriots. This will be their toughest test to date, as the Patriots are red hot right now. They’ll have to play another complete game and then some to have a chance at shocking the world in this one.
