The Cincinnati Bengals will likely be without star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson against the Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday. Hendrickson, who is battling a hip injury that forced him to miss the team’s last matchup against the Steelers, is doubtful to play this week.
In addition to that, they have opened up the window to return for quarterback Joe Burrow, who is coming off turf toe surgery. It is not expected that Burrow will play this week against the Steelers, so they should still see Joe Flacco.
Hendrickson led the NFL in sacks in 2024 and already has four this season. He has been a Pro Bowler in each of the last four seasons since joining the Bengals from the New Orleans Saints, and the Bengals have built their defense around him.
This upcoming game against the Steelers is a must-win contest for the Bengals if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. They were able to do it against the Steelers at home, and will come back on the road in hopes of stunning Pittsburgh once again, but that will be tough to do with no Hendrickson around to help bolster their pass rush.
