The Washington Commanders hadn’t had a franchise-caliber quarterback since Robert Griffin III. Before Jayden Daniels arrived last season, they were lacking someone to build a roster around.
That’s why fans are worried about his future. They already watched Griffin flame out after an injury, and they don’t want Daniels to do the same.
With that in mind, Griffin took to social media to shut down those comparisons.
“I believe that he will bounce back as long as they give him the proper amount of time to fully heal. Everyone keeps mentioning me on social media, going into all these diatribes about how they’re comparing my situation to Jayden Daniels’, but they’re really not even close to the same,” Griffin said.
Jayden Daniels was hurt in the same stadium, on the same yard line, on the same down and against the same team as I was.
I understand why many draw the comparisons, but Jayden Daniels’ situation in Washington is a completely different story than mine and is far from over.

Granted, Daniels’ latest injury can be blamed on head coach Dan Quinn, as there was no reason why he should’ve been on the field late in a blowout loss against the Seattle Seahawks.
Even so, the front office, coaching staff and ownership are different from Griffin’s time with Washington. Daniels is slight for a typical NFL QB, and he can be reckless at times, which is something that will have to be addressed.
Nevertheless, his injuries haven’t been as severe as what Griffin went through during his career. The Commanders simply need to make sure that Daniels won’t get on the field until he’s back to full strength, even if that means giving up on this season.
