Paraag Marathe told to make unpopular Leeds United decision with Daniel Farke struggling

Paraag Marathe has been urged to make a decision which may be unpopular with sections of the Leeds United fanbase on the future of Daniel Farke.

Daniel Farke is under the cosh following Leeds’ defeat against Nottingham Forest, as speculation begins to mount over his future.

Tim Sherwood believes Farke’s departure is now inevitable, echoing the thoughts of several prominent pundits as the Whites slipped closer to the Premier League relegation zone.

Reports before the game suggested that Farke has five games to save his job at Leeds, as Leeds face a daunting run of games in the run-up to Christmas.

However, former Premier League striker Robbie Earle has urged the 49ers to give Farke time to turn things around at Leeds, despite the damaging Forest defeat.

Robbie Earle urges Leeds United to give Daniel Farke time

Speaking on the Two Robbies Podcast for NBC Sports, Earle leapt to the defence of the under-fire Leeds manager.

According to Earle, Leeds should not bow to the pressure of fans calling for Farke to go on social media and give their Championship title-winning manager time to turn results around.

Earle said: “There was a bit of talk on social media as well. It’s not great for Daniel Farke that the Farke out was starting, and they want somebody else.

“But listen, he deserves to be given as long as he can to turn things around for Leeds.”

Earle’s co-host Robbie Mustoe added: “It’s all on for those managers to find a way to grind a little bit, and pick up some draws or pick up some clean sheets to get the points coming in.

“Because this is the time when you can fight, you know, and then the whole shoulders go down, and the players and the fans are, gosh, here we go again, a relegation fight.”

Leeds United’s home record against Aston Villa holds no comfort for Daniel Farke

With the players not jetting off for international duty, Farke now has two weeks to mull over how to coax an improvement out of his beleaguered squad.

Leeds host an improving Aston Villa side in their next Premier League game, and Farke will need the full backing of the Elland Road crowd if they are to secure a precious win.

Leeds’ winless home run against Aston Villa:

02/10/2022 – Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

10/03/2022 – Leeds United 3-0 Aston Villa

27/02/2021 – Leeds United 0-1 Aston Villa

28/04/2019 – Leeds United 1-1 Aston Villa

01/12/2017 – Leeds United 1-1 Aston Villa

However, if Farke were looking for a crumb of comfort in Leeds’ recent home record against Aston Villa, he would be sorely disappointed.

Leeds last beat the Villains at Elland Road in December 2016, when they secured a 3-0 victory in the Championship. Their last top-flight win came in May 2003, in a worrying trend for the Whites.
