Browns NFL draft: Looking back, passing on Travis Hunter the right call?

Assessing massive trade for Cleveland Browns in the 2025 NFL draft: Travis Hunter vs Mason Graham and Quinshon Judkins

Nov 10, 2025, 9:21 PM UTC

Leading up to the [2025 NFL draft](/2025/4/26/24418184/browns-2025-nfl-draft-class-mason-graham-shedeur-sanders-carson-schwesinger-quinshon-judkins-fannin), there was a lot of speculation that the Cleveland Browns were going to draft **Travis Hunter** with the second overall pick. Ultimately, the Browns traded out of the second pick with the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a package of four total picks. Three of Cleveland’s picks turned into **Mason Graham**, **Quinshon Judkins**, and **Dylan Sampson**, and they will have one final pick to make in the first round in 2026 to complete the return.

As it stands today, [Hunter is on the IR due to a knee injury](/general/108061/travis-hunters-injury-could-see-jaguars-nfl-draft-pick-to-browns-soar-mason-graham), which will keep him out for at least four total games. At wide receiver, he has 28 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown on the season. On the defensive side of the ball, he has allowed 96 total receiving yards on 110 coverage snaps.

While Hunter has performed relatively well thus far, the combination of the players that the Browns got, specifically Graham and Judkins, has made the trade worth it. Both players look primed to be a big part of Cleveland’s game plan for years to come. The first-rounder in 2026 will also hopefully make a big impact. It is challenging to fully assess the effect of a trade until years down the line, but it appears that the Browns made the right call.
