Eagles Make Last-Minute Change Before ‘Monday Night Football' vs. Packers

In just a few hours the Philadelphia Eagles will square off against the Green Bay Packers in a battle of NFC title contenders hoping to avoid their third loss.

Philadelphia enters the game off of its bye week and back at full strength on offense with both star running back Saquon Barkley and star wide receiver AJ Brown, who missed a Week 8 showdown against the New York Giants, on the field. But the offense isn’t the only side of the ball getting a major bump ahead of Monday night’s game.

Just hours before the contest, the Eagles announced a former first-round pick will be back out on the field.

Nolan Smith was activated ahead of the contest.

“Nolan Smith returned to practice this week and he will make his return to the field on Monday as the Eagles activated the third-year outside linebacker to the 53-man active roster off Injured Reserve,” the Eagles said. “…Smith returns on the same night that Brandon Graham makes his season debut after coming out of retirement, while newly acquired Jaelan Phillips is set for his Eagles debut. Phillips was acquired from the Miami Dolphins just before the trade deadline.”

Smith suffered a triceps injury in the Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams and went on Injured Reserve. Smith has 10 tackles and eight quarterback pressures in 142 defensive snaps this season.

Philadelphia and Green Bay kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN.
