There were late celebrations for the whiles as they won away at Chesham United on Saturday, November 8. Match report by Dexter Allison.
Brian Dutton’s [Salisbury FC](https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/sport/salisburyfc/scfcnews/?ref=au) side were able to grab three points late on, thanks to a composed penalty that was slotted home by striker Noah Coppin.
The first half was not filled with many chances, as both sides looked to try to feel each other out.
Crosses, corners and cutbacks came close to finding their targets, but the Whites were happy to let Chesham have the ball and hold their shape – and vice versa – leading to spells of possession switching hands, amounting to little end product.
With not much to report at the break, a massive performance ahead was needed from the Whites playing in black.
Time ticked by and shots from range whiskered wide, notably from Chesham around the hour mark, as Salisbury were forced to clear the ball off the line.
However, as substitutions were made and the floodlights began to beam down, the game began to stretch.
Some cute touches and interplay started to emerge down both touch lines, and Chesham’s attacking threat had ceased.

Salisbury continued to frustrate Chesham, and with ten minutes to go, Ollie Morgan was brought down in the box as massive penalty shouts were heard from the travelling support, but to no avail.
Yet, the Whites didn’t lose hope, and in the 84th minute, penalty shouts rang round the Meadow once more, with the referee eventually pointing to the spot.
Noah Coppin stepped up, took a deep breath and calmly disposed of the penalty into the bottom right-hand corner, as pure elation erupted from the Salisbury faithful.
A big three points on the road means the Whites can focus their attention on a long trip to Enfield Town on Tuesday night.
