The San Antonio Spurs, 7-2, will try to win their third straight game tonight when they play in Chicago against the Bulls. The Spurs have the second best record in the Western Conference, while the 6-3 Bulls are tied with the New York Knicks for the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
In San Antonio’s 126-119 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night, De’Aaron Fox made his season debut for the Silver and Black. Fox didn’t disappoint. In 31 minutes, the speedy guard totaled 24 points, three rebounds and three assists while shooting 9-for-14 from the field, 2-for-5 from three-point range and 4-for-5 at the free throw line. While Fox led the team in scoring, all five starters scored in double-digits (see the final grades).
Although the Bulls have lost two straight games, they are a perfect 5-0 in front of their home fans. Chicago has impressive wins at home this season over the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers.
Josh Giddey is leading the way for the Bulls this season. In fact, he’s currently playing at an All-Star level. In 34 minutes per game, he’s averaging 21.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 9.3 assists.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
The injury situation for San Antonio is improving. While Dylan Harper remains out with a calf strain, Luke Kornet could possibly return tonight. The team has listed him as a game-time decision.
If Kornet is able to play, expect him to be the team’s backup center behind superstar Victor Wembanyama.
Chicago Bulls Injury Update
The Bulls are also dealing with injuries. Josh Giddey is questionable with an ankle injury, while both Coby White and former Spurs big man Zach Collins are out for tonight’s affair.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
Against the Pelicans, head coach Mitch Johnson changed the starting lineup for the first time. The change was due to the return of De’Aaron Fox. Expect Johnson to keep the same starting five he used versus New Orleans: Fox and Stephon Castle at guard, Devin Vassell and Harrison Barnes at forward and Victor Wembanyama at center.
Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Bulls
The Spurs are favored by 4.5 points and the over/under is 237.5 points. The smart money is betting on the Spurs winning by five or more points. With Giddey questionable and the Spurs closing in on full health, this is a road game the Spurs should be able to get.
