Green Bay Packers to be without 1 more key offensive weapon vs Eagles

The Green Bay Packers are less than two short hours away from one of their most anticipated games of the year, a matchup with the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Last season, of course, Green Bay lost to Philadelphia twice, the first loss coming in Brazil in Week One and the second in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs.

Indeed, though it is still early enough in the season, the Packers have some mid-season standings riding on this game. If they win, they will vault up to the second seed in the early NFC Playoff picture. If they lose, they will fall to seventh.

A win will also keep them atop the NFC North while a loss while plummet them to third (behind the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears).

And, unfortunately, Green Bay is going into this game without several important offensive pieces.

As fans are well aware, Green Bay is going to have to go through the rest of their season (and whatever postseason run they have) without their star tight end, Tucker Kraft, who tore his ACL last week during the loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Additionally, wide receiver Jayden Reed is still not ready to return to the field after undergoing early season surgery on a broken collarbone and Jones fracture.

And, to make matters worse, it is now being reported that the Packers will be without rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden:

Packers WR Matthew Golden, who is questionable with a shoulder injury, is not expected to play tonight against the Eagles, per source.

As one can see from the post above, Golden is out for the game with the shoulder injury that knocked him out early last week.

Without Golden, Kraft, and Reed, Green Bay is going to rely on Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Luke Musgrave to carry the weight in the receiving game. Dontayvion Wicks, who could be returning from a calf injury, could get some decent targets as well.

All this being said, the key to beating the Eagles is controlling the ball and the clock. In order to do that, the offense has to get Josh Jacobs going so that he can grind down the Philadelphia defense.
