The third-round draft pick had appeared in three games, contributing primarily on special teams and limited defensive snaps. His recovery will extend into the offseason, leaving his training camp status for 2026 uncertain.
Jackson’sinjury adds woes to an already depleted defensive line. Michael Hoecht is out for the season with a pectoral injury, while Ed Oliver and T.J. Sanders remain on injured reserve.

Veteran edge rusher A.J. Epenesa also missed the Miami game. Coordinator Bobby Babich faced a limited rotation, forcing younger players to take on heavy snaps.
Before the injury, Jackson was gaining trust from the coaching staff. His 6-foot-7 frame and speed off the edge made him a situational pass rusher. Head coach Sean McDermott said Jackson “had been working hard and showing promise” before the setback.
Buffalo’s defensive struggles were evident against Miami. De’Von Achane rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns, while Tua Tagovailoa avoided consistent pressure.
The absence of edge containment underscored how costly Jackson’s loss could be as Buffalo faces playoff-deciding games.
Buffalo Bills’ Defensive Backfield Faces Mounting Pressure After Landon Jackson Injury
While Jackson’s injury affects the front, the Bills’ secondary has also been tested. Cornerbacks Cam Lewis and Dane Jackson have logged extended snaps due to injuries elsewhere.
Safety Micah Hyde continues to carry extra responsibilities in coverage and run support. The team has had to rotate backups, creating mismatches that opponents have exploited.
The backfield strain may impact defensive schemes for the remainder of the season. Coordinators must adjust coverage calls while protecting less experienced players. Buffalo’s ability to adapt will be critical against top AFC offenses in November and December.
The Bills may turn to practice-squad players or free agent signings to fill gaps. With New England gaining ground in the AFC East, every defensive play becomes vital.
Jackson’s injury, along with secondary challenges, highlights a season-long test of depth and resilience.
