A seven-step drop, a five-step drop, a three-step drop, and what should be the appropriate time?” Paytonsaid reporters during a press conference.
Before recent struggles, Nix had shown growth in clutch situations. He leads the league with four game-winning drives and has improved his QBR to 54.9 from last year’s 53.5.
Payton emphasized the importance of surrounding Nix with a strong support system, noting confidence in quarterbacks coach Davis Webb.
Webb has worked closely with Nix and backups Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger on route-specific drills, helping refine the young quarterback’s mechanics.
