The Philadelphia Eagles' defense was dominant in their 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers, but their new edge rusher, Jaelan Phillips, was about as good a player as can be in his debut.
Phillips stepped up early and often in this game and looked every bit as good as the Eagles thought he would be when they traded a 2026 third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins to send back Phillips. He finished the game with six tackles, two quarterback hits, one tackle for loss, and a fumble recovery in the win.
Howie Roseman seems to have struck gold again with great trade for Phillips
It certainly helps that Phillips has a previous relationship with Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, as they both worked together in Miami in 2023. Phillips was off to a monstrous start before he was injured and lost for the season.
Eagles fans can see now why Fangio told Roseman to make the trade for him when they had the chance. Phillips played his role perfectly as the top edge rusher on the team and provided multiple pressures on Jordan Love.
The best part was that Phillips even helped in stopping the run on the outside against Josh Jacobs. Phillips was able to make some tackles behind the line of scrimmage, making life difficult for Green Bay.
This certainly changes everything about the rest of the season for the Eagles, as they finally had a solid pass rush that was consistent throughout the game. Phillips was superb, Jalyx Hunt was great, and so was Nolan Smith Jr. It was a whole team effort to get the win.

Now the question is whether the Eagles can consistently do it week after week. Phillips certainly gives Philly fans hope that this will be the case.
