As reported by SPORT, Barcelona are preparing to reopen renewal talks with Marc Casado after he joined forces with super agent Jorge Mendes.
Casado had already agreed to extend his stay at the club in 2024 when he signed a new deal running until 2030.
Those talks, however, were conducted under the guidance of his former agent, Jonathan Luque.
Notably, during the summer transfer window of 2025, Casado’s situation became a subject of much discussion.
Important for Flick
His performances under Hansi Flick did not go unnoticed, and several major clubs expressed serious interest in signing him.
Despite the tempting financial offers that could have arrived from such a move, Barcelona opted to keep hold of the midfielder. The final say, however, rested with Casado himself.
At one point, Flick personally stepped in to speak with the young player about his intentions.

Following their conversation, it was decided that despite strong interest from the Premier League teams, the midfielder would not leave.
This season, Casado had an inconsistent start, but after Pedri’s injury, he has stepped up and has rightly repaid his manager’s faith.
Renegotiation plans
Now represented by Jorge Mendes, the 22-year-old midfielder finds himself backed by one of the most powerful figures in European football and someone who enjoys close ties with Barcelona.
According to the report, both sides plan to restart negotiations from scratch despite having already reached an agreement earlier in the year.
Casado remains committed to continuing his career at Barcelona, and discussions are expected to include both a contract extension and a significant salary increase.
Deco, who has been overseeing the sporting project, reportedly believes Casado’s contribution and development under Flick make him fully deserving of better terms.
