Everton transfer round-up as David Moyes makes demand and striker hunt intensifies

We may still have some time before the January transfer window opens, but David Moyes is clearly already thinking about what transfers he needs in the New Year.

It was a pretty productive summer for Everton, with the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish arriving and making an instant impact.

The development of Hill Dickinson Stadium wasn’t cheap, but will now afford Everton plenty of commercial opportunities, which can only be a good thing for David Moyes.

So, who will the Toffees look to sign in the January transfer window? What does the future hold for some of Everton’s struggling players? We’ve got all the latest reports and rumours compiled here.

David Moyes wants a big-name signing

Speaking after the win over Fulham, Moyes talked about the direction Everton are heading and made it very clear to Dan Friedkin that he wants another big signing.

The Everton manager referenced the likes of Grealish and Dewsbury-Hall as examples of what he’s looking for, and also said, “I trust the owners will help us in all the windows as we go forward.”

Whether the owners will deliver or not remains to be seen. However, according to Alan Myers, Everton’s priorities in January will be a striker and a right-back.

Everton won’t give up on Thierno Barry

The main discussion point around Everton at the moment is Thierno Barry. The struggling striker failed to score again at the weekend, but fans loved his work ethic and even gave Barry a standing ovation.

It now seems that, despite his lack of goals, fans are willing to give Barry some time to adjust and find his feet at Everton.

Considering he cost £27m this summer, it’s probably best to give him a good chance before writing him off. But, we do know that Everton are keen to sign another striker.

Dusan Vlahovic, Joshua Zirkzee, Richarlison and more

Speaking of, let’s have a look at all the targets that have been mentioned recently in that department.

Franculino Dju has been linked with Everton, and Midtjylland’s sporting director even admitted the striker could leave soon if he keeps up his current form.

Meanwhile, Everton and Roma are chasing Dusan Vlahovic, apparently. The Juventus striker would be a huge coup for the Toffees, but it is thought Vlahovic is happy to stay in Turin.

Everton may also look to sign Joshua Zirkzee on loan from Manchester United, while rumours about Richarlison’s return also continue to swirl.

Changes at centre-back may be coming for Everton

With Michael Keane and James Tarkowski heading towards the end of their careers, Everton need to start thinking about refreshing their central defensive options.

There’s also a worry that Jarrad Branthwaite could leave still, with Manchester United rekindling their interest in the young defender.

The good news, though, is that Everton know they can sign Charlie Cresswell for just over £26m. Other clubs will battle for the Toulouse centre-half, but Everton could steal a march in the New Year.
