Packers’ Matt LaFleur confronts job security concern after second straight loss in Week 10

The Green Bay Packers started the 2025 NFL season with many believing that they were among the chief contenders to win the Super Bowl in 2026. Two wins to start the season against the Detroit Lions and the Washington Commanders added to the hype.

But the tune has changed since, especially of late, as Green Bay is now on a two-game losing skid after back-to-back home losses to the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9 and Week 10, respectively.

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur had already been getting plenty of criticisms heading into the Eagles game on Monday, with the Packers suffering an upset 16-13 loss at Lambeau Field at the hands of Bryce Young and the Panthers. With Green Bay suffering yet another loss, 10-7 to the Eagles, thanks in large part to an anemic offense that had to bleed for points and yards, LaFleur’s job security has become a topic again in the Packers realm.

LaFleur acknowledged the noise following the loss to the Eagles, but he’d rather focus on what he can control.

“I’ll leave that for everybody else to decide, LaFleur said after the game, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “I’ll just focus on the day-to-day and try to do — I feel like you’re always coaching for everything in this league, you know? That’s just my mindset. It’s always been that way. You can’t ever exhale. You gotta always be pushing. That’s just my mindset and that will be my mindset ’til they tell me not to coach anymore.”

LaFleur is in his seventh season as head coach of Green Bay, and while the Packers have yet to reach the top under his watch, they have been competitive for the most part, reaching the NFL playoffs five times since he took over. Still, a season is only successful in Green Bay if it ends with the Vince Lombardi Trophy being paraded downtown. And so far, the Packers, despite a 5-3-1 record, don’t seem to be on the right path.

For LaFleur, he’ll just have to get back to work and find ways to address his team’s issues — while he’s still in control.

Up next, Green Bay will face the New York Giants on the road in Week 11.
