Barcelona’s 2025/26 campaign has been far from smooth, with injuries hitting some of their biggest names.
Key players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Pedri have all spent time on the sidelines, leaving manager Hansi Flick without the consistency he had hoped for when he took charge.
Despite these setbacks, two players have emerged as irreplaceable figures in Flick’s system, namely, Eric Garcia and Marcus Rashford.
Garcia, the ever-dependable defender, has quietly become one of the cornerstones of this Barcelona side.
An ever-reliant presence
Stepping in for Jules Kounde against Celta Vigo, the homegrown talent once again showcased his adaptability and composure.
Garcia has featured in all 16 of Barcelona’s matches this season, a clear reflection of Flick’s trust in him.
His versatility has been crucial, whether deployed as a full-back, centre-back, or even in a double pivot role, he has delivered consistently.

Out of those 16 games, Garcia has started 13, proving his growing importance in a squad battling injury and fatigue.
Then there is Rashford
Equally impressive has been Marcus Rashford, who has seized his opportunity following Raphinha’s injury.
The English forward, currently on loan from Manchester United, has played in all 16 matches as well, earning 13 starts and becoming one of Barcelona’s main attacking outlets.
Rashford’s form in La Liga has been exceptional as he currently leads the competition in assists with seven, while also scoring six goals and registering eight assists across all competitions.
His explosive start to life in Spain has reportedly prompted Barcelona to consider activating his €30 million buy option.
Rashford himself has made no secret of his desire to stay, expressing that he has rediscovered his best football in Catalonia after several frustrating seasons in Manchester.
With Flick’s tactical structure giving him both freedom and responsibility, the 28-year-old has become a symbol of the team’s resilience amid adversity.
