Real Madrid willing to offer disgruntled 24-year-old in deal to sign struggling Liverpool…

Real Madrid will reportedly be happy to offer 24-year-old Brazilian attacker Rodrygo Goes in the deal to sign 22-year-old German international Florian Wirtz from Liverpool.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Florian Wirtz and Rodrygo Goes may soon swap bases if Real Madrid can successfully convince Liverpool to accept an exchange deal. Wirtz is the subject of interest from Los Blancos, with the Spanish giants keen on reinforcing their midfield unit by signing a versatile playmaker.

Meanwhile, with Rodrygo frustrated at Real Madrid due to a lack of game time, a move to the Premier League may appeal to him. However, convincing Liverpool to part ways with Wirtz will be a tall order, even for an appealing exchange deal involving Rodrygo, as the Reds are unwilling to part ways with the summer arrival.

Florian Wirtz and his Liverpool limbo

Florian Wirtz has hit a brick wall since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in a mega-money deal in the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old arrived at Anfield with hype and fanfare surrounding him after taking the Bundesliga by storm in the last half a decade. However, the young playmaker has struggled to make his mark in the first half of the 2025/26 season.

The German international has managed only three assists in 16 outings thus far for Liverpool, and he has yet to contribute to a goal in the Premier League. However, that has not affected Wirtz’s stock in the market, with Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso reportedly pushing for his signature in the long run.

La Liga adventure beckons?

Real Madrid’s interest in Florian Wirtz makes sense. The Merengues have struggled for creativity from the middle of the park since Toni Kroos called time on his career. Additionally, Los Blancos parted ways with Luka Modric in the summer transfer window. So, Real Madrid can do with a new playmaker, with Wirtz emerging as a viable target.

Interestingly, Didi Hamann recently warned Liverpool that Wirtz may leave Liverpool to join Real Madrid in the future if his situation at the Merseyside club does not improve. The youngster’s qualities make him an appealing target at Real Madrid, and with Xabi Alonso eager for a reunion, a deal may be on the cards in a few years. The Spanish giants are ready to push for an exchange deal involving Rodrygo Goes.

The Brazilian attacker has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time, and a deal may appeal to the Reds. Meanwhile, Wirtz is not the only Liverpool player on Real Madrid’s wishlist, as Alonso has also reportedly asked Los Blancos to sign Ibrahima Konate and others. As for Wirtz, the 22-year-old German international will unlikely reunite with Alonso at the Santiago Bernabeu anytime soon, as Liverpool will not sanction the youngster’s departure.
